IAAP Exams

As a special feature, A11y Camp 2019 will be hosting exams for not one but two qualifications under the auspices of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP).

Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies

The IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) credential is IAAP’s foundational certification, representing broad, cross-disciplinary conceptual knowledge about 1) disabilities, 2) accessibility and universal design, and 3) accessibility-related standards, laws, and management strategies.

Find out more about the CPACC on the IAAP website.

Web Accessibility Specialist

The IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) credential is intended for intermediate level accessibility professionals who are expected to evaluate the accessibility of existing content or objects according to published technical standards and guidelines, and provide detailed remediation recommendations.  They are expected to know and use the relevant technologies, not merely be aware of them.

Find out more about the WAS on the IAAP website.

Interested people can apply to sit either of the exams on the morning of Wednesday 13 November. Conference attendance is not necessary to sit the exams.

How to apply to take an exam

Registration for an IAAP exam is a two step process. First, each candidate will submit an application to verify eligibility for each IAAP certification. The IAAP Certification Team will review each application and approve eligible candidates. It may take 3-5 business days to process an application.

Second, upon approval each candidate’s record will be created and updated in the IAAP Certification database. After approval, each candidate will be sent instructions to schedule and pay for their exam.
